Iran Is in Full Command of Strait of Hormuz, Navy Commander Says

Iran is in full command of the Strait of Hormuz, semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday citing Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Iran’s Navy Commander.

While speaking on the upcoming maritime drills, the U.S. plans to hold in partnership with 20 other nations in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf in September, Sayyari discarded them as irrelevant highlighting Iran as the “greatest maintainer and protector of security in the Persian Gulf“.

According to him, the only way of ensuring security in the waters of the Persian Gulf is through tight cooperation between the regional states, which should stick together in maintaining calm waters along their coastlines without relying on the U.S.
